Loot is drying up (new warehouse + academy)

Hi,

The latest patch buffed the warehouse quite a bit. This is great because the old warehouse was essentially worthless. However, now more than ever, server inactivity is glaringly obvious. Before, inactive players would have 0 garrison and a somewhat slow replenishment of their resources. If you found an inactive city, you could raid off 1k+ gold and elixir. After the patch, these resources are all protected. Now inactive cities are just 30-100k walls with no resources to plunder. I like the idea of protected resources in theory. Raided resources are unprotected so you get a dynamic where you have to raid back and forth to get your loot. But if nobody can get easy plunder anywhere, then resources dry up. This is noticable on multiple servers I play on, where each kingdom has maybe 10-50 players that are active. This is further more accentuated by research now costing lumber. Before, during castle upgrades, people had 3-4 days where they couldn't spend their lumber. Now, they can spend anything at all times, so more and more do you see people sitting on so little resources that it's not worth hitting. The only ones with excessive amounts of resources are the ones nobody's strong enough to ever raid.

What is the solution here? I'm honestly getting a bit frustrated doing my dailies and scouting for hours on it, clicking empty castle after empty castle in the hopes of finding someone that failed to spend his resources or only quit less than 48 hours ago so his stuff is still there. What are your experiences, is it just me?

Right after the patch hit, there was a bug where all pre-patch resources were unprotected. And you know what, I think that should have been a feature. If you havent logged in for 4 days, your warehouse guards go on strike and everything becomes unprotected.

Seems a bit silly that a single golden legion costs me 3000+ rare resources, and I'm getting around 45 from an escort and 10 from a quest. What am I expected to do other than spend money?

It's absolute starvation right now. God, these few hours where the warehouse has been off, that was the most fun I've ever had in AoC.

We need a refund of the wood used in researches! The entire server is short on wood now

Maybe we should make all lumber mills 8 hour cooldowns again cause now we can't maintain both buildings and research.

Even better, maybe we should make all mines 8 hour cooldowns! Definitely a lack of resources all around.

Honestly the warehouse needs to have a decay system. Either more days inactive the less it protects or the less garrisons/wall HP you have the less it protects. Something to the effect of your defenses are lower so people can more efficiently loot your warehouse. Eventually get to the point where if you are next to zero on both and you castle is about to fall your warehouse guards flee and everything is loot able. However if this is implemented then there should be a level system in place. Something that gives you a smaller percentage of loot the higher level your castle is compared to the person you are sieging. So a level twenty castle player gets less loot from siege of a level ten castle, while a level ten player gets more as the walls decay. Giving lower level players a reason to try to loot non burning houses, as it will be worth it for them to weaken something close to their own level(or higher). Where in once it is weak a high level player cannot just swoop in and take the loot/hard work for themselves. Also it adds a system of cooperation, in that a high level player will weaken a lower level, something that already happens and is easy enough for them to do. Then lower levels can come in and clean up the loot and grow stronger while the castle is being destroyed to take a city.

What u want the looters to Attack only once in every 24 hours Ur STRONGHOLD.

SHIELD must be AUTO-ACTIVATED every 24 hours after an ATTACK ON YOUR STRONGHOLD !

A 24 HOUR SHIELD is vital to protect ur Stronghold and will only be DEACTIVATED if u

ATTACK other Players STRONGHOLD.

SHIELDS are enabled on a DAILY BASIS after each 24 HOUR CYCLE.

In order to protect your warehouse from PLUNDERERS.

WAREHOUSES should be able to protect at least 80% of ALL your resources.

I'm on Server 30. Before the patch, we could probably have stretched the server life another month. Now it looks like the server won't last another week. All inactive cities are totally dry. We've all resorted to buying rare resources, including lumber, in the shop for gold – resulting in a gold shortage as well. My kingdom was lucky - we were the one that everyone migrated to after the patch before the last, but even with five mithril mines and three crystal mines, we can't get nearly enough resources for our members to grow. Funnily enough, the reason we gathered so many members into one kingdom is so that we could rebalance the map together against Neferak, which had already taken over half the map, and then split the map equally again to extend the server life.

What's more, the resource nodes closest to our capital have mysteriously increased their cooldown times from about 24 hours to 60 hours after the migration patch. I sent messages to support multiple times – they responded by asking me to send screenshots of my "PvP crash."

The current resource drought is utterly unsustainable. Without drastic change, and soon, servers will go extinct en masse.
