I am going to preface what i say here by saying that i was looking at all the recent patches and getting super angry about all the potential exploits and problems, along with everyone else, but since some crazy stuff that happened on our server last night i have actually come to enjoy what has happened and think i can actually see some clever design decisions from Lillith.
So first thing is guard towers. they are potentially exploitable in that you can capture large parts of the map just by putting guard towers on them and to be honest that is a very powerful use of them. However they have one BIG downside - they are easy as heck to siege and they have a nice amount of resources to raid. Last night i managed to raid approx 400k of each basic and 2k of each rare resource from going around raiding towers. Now people can revenge you back but as far as i am aware if you just hit guard towers then you don't go on the revenge list - only the normal house one - so you can just pick small houses to raid OR
This next point is to talk about the new revenge feature. It being reduced to 3 days is nice but not super important. What makes revenge acceptable is that it is now super super cheap to use linari to shield for the duration. People have not talked enough about just how cheap it is now to shield with the changes and it is massive.
So now there are options for low powered players to raid around the place if they are clever, whales have the option to revenge attack so they get to do something BUT they can only destroy walls not your resources - so you can still play the game. Also being in the capitol lets you now farm void properly which is legit a big improvement. Not being able to rob carts is nasty but again i can see how this is allowed as it does suck to control the map and yet have to escort everything. I would not be happy with this change if it were not for guard towers.
Another part of the game that many complain about - and honestly i can understand it - is that garrisons are too weak. The thing is garrisons are weak compared to an army properly deployed with hero bonuses. This is actually good for the vast majority of players though - it means we can raid guard towers and even 'whales' if you are vaguely close in level to them OR if you coordinate with multiple players.
It seems like Lillith are pushing for the game to be more about destroying cities and constantly fighting rather then one kingdom just winning and sitting pretty with their indestructible garrisons.
Now another change that is being pushed is stronger heroes - and i can understand a lot of peoples negative reaction to this - but to me it seems like a really good change. This will make garrisons even easier for people to destroy and make the game even more aggressive.
Don't get me wrong i think this game still has MASSIVE issues that need addressing, honestly the biggest one being communication from the devs on why they are making these changes. I just wanted to offer a different opinion on the recent changes from someone who is fighting very hard on his server and enjoying it.
