Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Patch Notes Revealed

Treyarch has released the extensive update's patch notes, detailing weapon balance changes, scorestreak changes, and more.

Treyarch has released a major update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, arriving one week after the game's release on November 13. And after a bit of a long wait, the patch notes have also arrived, detailing exactly what's new and different today.

Perhaps most notable is the nerf to the overpowered MP5. That came ahead of this update, but as Treyarch notes in the patch notes, this update actually reverts the changes to the MP5. The nerf will "return in an upcoming update," but we don't know when--so expect to continue getting wrecked by that in the meantime. Those changes see the MP5's base effective damage range reduced by 33% and adds some additional initial recoil.

Other weapons see some nerfs, including the FFAR1 (increased recoil, reduced max damage and max damage range), M16 (reduced max damage range and increased sprint to fire time, among other things), and all snipers (the sprint to fire time has been adjusted). Some weapons see buffs, including the magnum (getting improvements to fire rate and max damage range) and M60 (improved max damage range and movement speed).

Scorestreaks have been tweaked as well, with a number of them seeing their costs increased, including artillery, cruise missile, war machine, and care package. A few also see more direct changes, such as the combat bow losing one round and the attack helicopter getting increased damage and health. The helicopter will also spend less time in one location before it moves.

Further tweaks resolve issues with specific game modes (like the bomb taking longer than 7.5 seconds to defuse in Search & Destroy), crashes, and other bugs. You can see the full patch notes below.

Since launch, players have reported a variety of issues and oddities with Black Ops Cold War, including a problem where new PS5s are downloading the PS4 version. Additionally, split-screen multiplayer is difficult to find or not available for some users.
